How to use Navodayan
These steps cover joining, your profile, the main member pages, and how coordinator roles work.
1. Join and get in
- Open Join and create an account with email or Google.
- Alumni choose their JNV and batch. Staff choose a posting status, school, and join year.
- Open the verification email and confirm the address before you log in.
- An admin then reviews the account. Until it is approved, you do not appear in the directory and full directory search stays locked. You can still edit your profile.
2. Finish your profile
From your profile, choose Edit. Add a photo, current role, company, and profession from the list.
Highest qualification, area of expertise, address, and work address are optional. Phone, address, work address, highest qualification, and work phone start as Nobody. You can change each one to My JNV only or Anyone on Navodayan. Area of expertise and current role stay visible to other members.
3. Find people
Sign in, then open Directory. Filters run in this order: JNV, batch, profession, location, country, association, then Open to Mentor.
4. Connect and find a mentor
- Open a member's profile and send a connection request. Incoming requests, sent requests, and messages are under People on My desk.
- Mentorship is a separate page. Filter by profession, then request a mentor. A mentor can guide up to five people at a time.
- To be listed as a mentor, turn on Open to Mentor from your profile.
5. Events
- Approved events appear on the Events page. Use RSVP if you plan to attend.
- Hosting an event sends it to an admin first. It appears publicly only after approval.
- A knowledge session starts as a topic. After an admin approves it, members can say they are interested. Once a date and a session coordinator are set, both appear on the card.
- A cover photo is optional. Larger photos are resized to under 1 MB. If you leave the cover blank, the card shows the details with no image area.
6. Offerings and contributions
- You can publish an offering after your account is approved and your JNV is verified. Each offering is reviewed on its own, and you can post up to five.
- Contributions record money or time for a campaign. A coordinator reviews what you submit.
7. Coordinators
Coordinators help members of a batch, a school, a state, the whole network, or one country. Open Coordinators after you sign in to see the JNV coordinator and batch coordinators for the school on your profile.
- Batch coordinator. Looks after one batch at one JNV and can see members of that batch.
- JNV coordinator. Looks after the whole school. School events, announcements, and contributions stay with this role, and they can invite batch coordinators for that school.
- State coordinator. Sees members from JNVs in one state. School events and funds stay with each JNV coordinator.
- National coordinator. Sees members from every JNV. School events and funds stay with each JNV coordinator.
- International coordinator. Sees members in one country. School events and funds stay with each JNV coordinator.
A person can hold one coordinator role. Your account must be approved and your email verified before you can be invited.
- If your school has no JNV coordinator, use Request to coordinate this school on the Coordinators page. Add a short note, a document such as an email from the JNV, or both. An admin reviews that request. If the school already has a JNV coordinator and your own batch does not, you can request to coordinate that batch. The request goes to the JNV coordinator and to an admin.
- Batch, state, national, and international roles start from an invitation. A JNV coordinator invites batch coordinators for that school. An admin invites the other roles.
- Open the invitation email, review the terms, and accept. The link lasts 7 days. A batch coordinator becomes active as soon as they accept. A JNV, state, national, or international coordinator is active after an admin confirms the accepted invitation.
